Synopsis

This focused session will explore the rapidly evolving field of nonlinear metamaterials, where engineered structures exhibit nonlinear optical responses that enable novel functionalities beyond those of natural materials. Topics will include harmonic generation, nonlinear wave mixing, tunable and reconfigurable metasurfaces, and quantum nonlinear optics in metamaterials. The session aims to bring together leading researchers to discuss recent breakthroughs, theoretical models, and emerging applications in photonics, sensing, and information processing.

Topics

  • Non-linear optics at the nanoscale
  • Metamaterials-enabled imaging and image processing
  • Nonlinear optical manipulation with metasurfaces
  • Optical non-linearities in time varying structured media
  • Optical computing and processing: structures and methods
