The Journal of the European Optical Society – Rapid Publications (JEOS-RP) warmly welcomes new Editorial Board Members
- On Monday, 08 september 2025
We are delighted to announce the appointments of Muriel Botey and Azzedine Boudrioua by the EOS, as new Topical Editors of The Journal of the European Optical Society – Rapid Publications (JEOS-RP). They join the current team of Topical Editors and work closely with the Editor-in-Chief to the peer-review process of the articles submitted to JEOS-RP. Depending on the theme of the submitted article, the Editor-in-Chief selects the Topical Editor who will handle the peer-review process. As per the recommendations made by at least two reviewers, the Topical Editor proposes a decision to the Editor-in-Chief who retains the ultimate responsibility for accepting or rejecting the paper.
- Azzedine Boudrioua is a Full-Professor at the University Sorbonne Paris Nord. He is leading the Organic Photonics and Nanostructures group of Laboratoire de Physique des Lasers. He is also the director of the federal structure of research NAP MOSAIQ dedicated to nanoscience and applications. His research, also, concerns optical materials, integrated optics and nonlinear optics. He participates to several national and international scientific committees and expert panels. He has published more than 100 journal papers, more than 180 papers presented in national and international conferences and two books on Integrated Optics and Organic Lasers, and he was the principal editor of an international and collective book on light science. He was a member of the French Optical Society board and a member of the international steering committee of the International Year of Light 2015 under the auspice of the UNESCO.
- Muriel Botey holds a PhD in Physics from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, UPC, and is currently Deputy Director of the Barcelona East School of Engineering and a member of the Nonlinear Dynamics, Nonlinear Optics and Lasers research group at UPC. Her research focuses on linear and nonlinear nanostructured materials for light control, including metamaterials, metasurfaces, and non-Hermitian systems, as well as the control of instabilities in dynamic systems through spatial and spatiotemporal modulations. She is the author or co-author of over 50 ISI-indexed publications, four book chapters, and has delivered more than 100 presentations at international conferences, including around 40 invited talks. She has collaborated with over 80 researchers from 12 countries and has supervised five PhD theses. She also teaches in a Master in Photonics in Barcelona.
Both EOS and the publisher, EDP Sciences, wish them the warmest welcome and are confident that they will bring fresh perspectives that contribute to the ongoing growth of the journal and, more importantly, the broad, equitable dissemination of research in the discipline.
Following many years of service to the journal, other members of the Editorial Board have decided to step down:
- Sergei Turitsyn from the co-editors,
- Hans-Peter Herzig from the Editorial Advisory Board,
- Ralf Bergmann, Oliver Fähnle, Gilles Pauliat and Ichiro Shoji from the Topical Editor Board.
We would also like to thank them for their constant participation and support in improving the quality of the journal over the years.
About The Journal of the European Optical Society – Rapid Publications (JEOS-RP)
JEOS-RP is the online, open access Journal of the European Optical Society-Rapid Publications covering a large scope of research in optics and photonics. JEOS-RP is a peer-reviewed open-access journal which is listed with ISI Journal Citation Reports. The journal aims to provide readers with recent and important achievements in optics/photonics and, as its name suggests, it strives for the shortest possible publication time.
The European Optical Society, EOS, is a non-profit society, an umbrella organization for the national optical learned societies (NOS) around Europe, and a platform for individuals. Its mission is to bring together and encourage the cooperation of all with an interest in optics, photonics and related scientific fields, to make practical use of research results, and to support the industrial exploitation of optics. EOS members extend from Europe to all over the world. Among other benefits, EOS members receive a substantial reduction in their publication fees in JEOS-RP.
